Prometheus Science Books is an entirely new publishing enterprise—and we want your feedback before we go into print.
Our publisher and co-author Tom Burkard has extensive experience developing new educational materials. He wrote the first edition of Dancing Bears in 2001—this was an entirely new approach to teaching SEN pupils to read. Teachers and SEN advisers liked its simplicity, and pupils loved it because they were always ‘getting it right’.
Nonetheless, there is no programme that is so good that it can’t be improved. Dancing Bears is now in its 6th edition, and feedback from teachers and LA advisers has played a crucial role.
Feedback also enabled Sound Foundations to develop new titles. Bear Necessities—designed specifically as a Wave 3 intervention for 6-year-olds—was found to be exceptionally effective in trials conducted by Educational Psychologists in Gloucestershire.
